Harry Sternberg

Harry Sternberg

Over the course of a life spanning the twentieth century, Harry Sternberg (American, 1904-2001) gave powerful witness to the dramatic events unfolding around him: the Great Depression, the rise of fascism, the Second World War, and postwar American life and culture. In his paintings and prints Sternberg balanced a highly personal, expressive vision with a ‘voice of conscience’ that protested all forms of injustice and oppression.
