The hallway is long / and not exactly dark. / There is a society here, / this basement / where the exchanges / really take place, / as we prepare / and run / or hobble / to the next class. / He was smiling / as he often did. / we passed. / He asked, / is it getting longer? / We always / knew the answer. / Or did we?
