DescriptionThe Virgin Mary, reading while kneeling on a cushion, turns to respond to the angel Gabriel holding a bouquet of lilies. Her sewing basket sits next her--shears sit on top of a small pile of loose fabric. Above them, a white dove--a symbol of the Holy Spirit--flies out from a bright burst of light. Putti, arranged on circular, rolling clouds, look down upon the scene.
