DescriptionIn aligning altars and altar screens with every second nave column, Born projected the modular order of the Church into the layout of its liturgical furnishings in a top-view axonometric. The interior is distributed into a multitude of isolated devotional sections, leaving only a small and limited space for the worshipper to move through the length of the Church. The emergence in Carolingian architecture in the ordering of space is recognizable: a striking parallel in the appearance in Hiberno-Saxon and Carolingian book of illumination of an ornamental layout where the whole book is divided internally into clearly recognizable parts and sub-parts.
