DescriptionJudith, standing center, hands a large platter to her maidservant who carries it atop her head, a piece of cloth falling back to reveal the head of Holofernes. His decapitated body lies contorted on a bed, just inside the doorway left of the two women. To their right, a soldier sleeps, resting on his shield. This engraving is made after the triangular pendentive fresco of the same subject by Michelangelo on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. This record has been reviewed by University Galleries staff but may be incomplete or contain errors.
