DescriptionJudith, standing center, hands a large platter to her maidservant who carries it atop her head, a piece of cloth falling back to reveal the head of Holofernes. His decapitated body lies contorted on a bed, just inside the doorway left of the two women. To their right, a soldier sleeps, resting on his shield. This engraving is made after the triangular pendentive fresco of the same subject by Michelangelo on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
