DescriptionTwo women, seated, working on needlework in lap; one at right in background, sits in shadow, the woman at left more central, bent over her stitiching; various items including scissors and spool of thread on ground in foreground. First image from series "Five Feminine Occupations," rare and early instances of the representation of women's work (by a woman artist) in the 17th century. The compositions and subjects are entirely original conceptions by Roghman. The other subjects in the series are: "A Young Woman Ruffling"; "A Woman Cooking"; "A Woman Spinning"; and "A Woman Cleaning".InterpretationsConservation: a long repaired tear is visible from center top running to left, approx. 4 cm
