DescriptionHand carved bowl, elongated shape of stylized sea lion, with open mouth and teeth showing, flippers held back against body, and a split tail at the end, and a deep bowl at the center; restricted vessel; painted decorations; design consists of black body, with carved traditional Squamish/Coast Salish design elements, like a whale tale, and a possible bird head with a thick bill, in red, green, and light red-tan color of natural cedar wood, with a wide head and snout, natural wood color teeth and small crescent ears on top of head.This record has been reviewed by University Galleries staff but may be incomplete or contain errors.
