DescriptionHand carved gourd rattle; small gourd with round hole cut at bottom, smaller end, and small pebbles dropped inside, before round wood dowel, used for handle, is inserted in hole; small hole drilled into dowel for short length of white cotton string threaded through and tied; gourd painted a dark golden brown with black, red, and turquoise painted decorations; design is Hopi sun and below that is black stripe with stepped elements to represent pueblo buildings.
