DescriptionThomas Paine holds up a paper reading "Rights of Man / Common Nonsense..." as he tramples on scraps of the established British order, including "Obedience to the laws" and "Loyalty," beneath his feet. He carries a bundle of weapons on his back labels "Leveling Interments," and holds a dagger in his other hand. His head radiates light, though the words inscribed between the rays are not angelic, including "Treason;" "Anarchy Murder;" "Rebellion;" "Misery;" "Treachery;" and "Injustice."
