DescriptionHand coiled and modeled jar, circular, somewhat flat base, rounded wall to tall neck, with separate spout modeled on front of jar ending in a fantastic creature masque at end; jar opening is covered with a piece of animal skin that is anchored around neck with small animal bone and dried plant fiber cord; three twisted lengths of plant fiber cord attached to rim and down to base where small limb is rounded for drum to sit upon, and cords from are tied to this wood base; mask has googly eyes, uplifted nose and wide mouth; drum body is restricted vessel; dark brown with heavy black and gray fire clouds; large burned area on base and wall.
